11/7/25 I am sooooo close to having my ducks in a row! They’re all in the same pond, and swimming in a circle!
The non-profit bank account has been approved. I’m starting to make a few contacts with partner groups. I got my first donation of 1000 books. I have temporary business cards. The only thing I’m waiting for, right now, is the 501c3 number.
I was expecting that it would be February or so, before I got it, so I had planned a whole lineup of activities for the fall and winter, that involved not having tax exempt status. I put my ducks into a pond and moved them into a square.
But…then…I checked the IRS website, and it said that they were working on the batch that included my app! And it should be done by today! So I changed my lineup, and moved my ducks into a circle.
But…then…there was the government shutdown, and the IRS furloughed workers, and who knows when the 501 will get done… Ugh. My ducks are now in a scattered oval shape.
I feel like I’m in the pond with the ducks right now, going in circles. I want to start reaching out to people, making contacts, spreading the word. But first, I want to have proper bookmarks, and permanent business cards, and donation receipts. But I can’t do that until I get the 501 number. But meanwhile, I am twiddling my wings and paddling in the pond, waiting and doing nothing.
So, I’ve been cleaning. When unsure what to do, one can always clean and sort. So, yeah, I’ve been cleaning and sorting and nesting for the last week or two. Waiting for the green light.
